What inspired you to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry?

It all began when I moved to Sydney when I was 18, I went there travelling on my gap year after school and just fell in love with it. While I was over there I had really bad digestive problems and was seriously bloated everyday - it was so uncomfortable and embarrassing. I didn’t feel confident in my skin and always felt tired and lacking in energy. A friend told me about this is health cafe in Bondi so I went to check it out, I was amazed at all these strong healthy and happy people. I wanted to be like them. I started to eat there and turned my whole diet around from low fat, high sugar diet to filling my plate with lots of fats, veggies, good quality meat and love. I ended up working in the cafe cooking, so started cooking more and learning about nutrients and above all helping people get healthy. I wanted to make eating healthy simple and delicious for everyone.

How did you become aware of gut health and how did it inspire you to create the Happy Gut Guide?

My long term issues with IBS, it took me so long to understand what was going on with my body. I was confused. So I wanted to share what I learnt with others, I want to help others. I also knew how much working 1-1 with a dietician really helped, which is why I’m so thrilled Laura Tilt said yes to co-creating it with me. It’s an evidence based, dietician approved programme that I hope can help anyone with IBS.
