How To Stay Productive Whilst Working From Home

So the majority of people either work for themselves or are freelancing and so working from home is becoming more and more common these days, and if your anything like me and you get easily distracted by that mountain pile of washing, or your favourite afternoon TV programme, then finishing that to do list is always that little bit more challenging, and before you know it your day is nearly over and you haven’t even managed to get half way through. So what can we do to stay on track and smash those to do lists?…

Set yourself a realistic to do list

By setting a realistic to do list is both mentally and visually easier to accomplish rather then an overwhelming page long to do list. I recommend to split it up into 5 to 6 bullet points.

Make sure all distractions are out of sight

Try not to be working from a room which will easily distract you. Instead create a clear, clean workspace which will again give you that sense of ease both mentally and visually, plus it sets you off in the right mood when you surround yourself with a lovely workspace.

Have set time slots scheduled for each task

I have been using this method for some time now and I find it really helps, as normally I will get so bogged down on that one task (normally my emails) that I end up missing out on everything else that needs to be complete for that day.

Set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself of the time slot for that particular task

I find by setting an alarm on my phone it helps me to stay on track on each task.

Prioritise your to do lists so that you have “most urgent” tasks then below “semi urgent” and finally “Not urgent”

This is also a game changer for me, where as before I would just make bullet points, however now I create different sections on my page and split my tasks into each of these categories.

So there you have it my 5 top tips on staying productive whilst working from home.
